because there's always baking...

Easter holidays loom and it's STILL SNOWING.

If you're trying to figure out how to entertain the children during the break, here's something that should resist the lure of the telly for an hour or so at least. My six year old can get on with this pretty much unassisted while I tape padding to the most accessible walls.

Because if it stays this cold she'll be bouncing off the walls and I'll be hitting my head off them. Repeatedly.

So, y'know, Happy Easter and all that. I shall be celebrating by printing off engineering vacancies in Singapore and using them as my husband's table mats.

  1. This is often made with cherries upon the first signs of spring in France. The kids all know how to bake clafouti by themselves, and I think it's a wonderful way for children to start learning self sufficiency. Thanks for the recipe!

    1. What luck - I had no idea this was a Spring cake (I also had no idea it was called clafoutis - much more chic than my name! I just call it this because when I make it the cake always has a muffin-y top layer. Maybe I should've called it "Why Mummy has a muffin top" cake!)

  5. Great idea - with the weather being so awful it has been difficult keeping boyfriend's kids amused (we only have them at weekends, so I have much sympathy for you!)

    1. Poor man's version of that: printed in B&W (colour cartridge is out) and stuck in an old plastic pocket!

  10. hahaha you're great. when we were young and annoying, my mum would NEVER chuck us a recipe to keep us occupied; think she (still) feels we're goign to burn down her kitchen. we turned out alright though, thankfully.

  12. I am going to demand that my little guy make this for me this week. He is on spring break so he'll have plenty of time on his hands to pamper his mama :) Maybe I'll show him how to do the laundry too! Thanks for the kid-easy recipe.
