answers on a postcard please

Some of the many things I don't understand:
  • Twitter. I just can't wrap my ailing braincells around it. I get lost in shopping malls, so I certainly can't navigate which bit of who said what and where it was answered and re-tweeted and, well, no. Just no. It's not going to happen.
  • Multi-functional maternity'x'nursing wear. In my limited experience, these two states are mutually exclusive. The desire for something half decent to wear while nursing means I am obviously not pregnant anymore. The stupidity of this issue makes my head ache. (If anyone can recommend a company that does good-quality nursing clothes that don't make me look like a trog who's given up on herself and flung on an ill-fitting sack, I'd be very grateful.)
  • People who leave their dog mess in our street. Clearly cretins, they have to walk down the street everyday too, so surely skipping round various evacuations bugs them as well? I'm going to take affirmative action with some blue spray chalk. Sorry, that should be hashtag affirmativeaction hashtag turdwars. Or something.
  • Now I do actually really need advice on this last one. "200g baked sweet potato, flesh scooped out". What does that mean? A 200g potato baked and scooped, or 200g of scooped out flesh from a couple of potatoes? It's for this recipe, so I think it's kind of important. I'm veering towards that latter... Answers on a postcard please.
That is all. Thangyaverramuch.

  1. Well you put a smile on my face today! I think it's the scooped out bits but who knows. I am proud to say that when I walk my dog you would LOVE me, nuff said. Twitter takes up too much time, and I am so far away from dual clothing usage. Have a lovely day :)

  2. Milk has a nursing line... Dual purpose, as it serves as nursing gear and "feel sexy again after two years in sweatpants and hubbies t-shirts." The rest I won't even venture a guess on, it's too early in the morning.

  3. I am going out on a limb, but I think it is the flesh scooped from 200g of sweet potato prior to cooking. I cannot imagine it is that big of a difference. Hate, hate, hate those dog owners. I mean really hate. And nursing wear - I liked the tee over a tank top.

  4. I agree with the previous comment about the scooping.
But more importantly, you are hilarious reminds me somehow of of going into a department store and asking where the "attractive" D size bras were when I was nursing (I'm back to an A again now, sniff.) The department store woman told me there was no such thing as "attractive bras in a D size." I actually believed her. And then I was like...that is so not true!!! What about all those hot models with big boobs. I know they wear pretty bras.

Some people just want pregnant/breastfeeding mothers to feel unattractive.

  5. Can't help you with the potatoes but I SO agree with the doggy poop. The other day almost stepped in 1 but 3 mounds just on the sidewalk corner - really? If you have 3 dogs that you are walking or just one that just emptied breakfast, lunch and dinner -clean it up...grrr.

  6. twitter only becomes easier the more time you spend wasting your day on it... believe me, i've been there. Re the sweet potato thing... this is something you should ask Dan Lepard about on twitter... he will answer you and he should be clearer as it is indeed very important and naughty he wasn't clearer. xx

    1. Ooh, thank you Dom! I look forward to hearing! Especially as it's critical to my random recipe :-)

    2. Just weighed them-roasted-then peeled and weighed again; there's 50g per tattie difference between before and after, so it's clearly going to affect the recipe!

  9. I with you on Twitter, not understanding it that is. Nursing wear? Well I didn't bother, I have to admit, I decided to just wear my usual clothes and if I was feeding in public and offended people with my flesh, well they could always look the other way! But if you are after something I have always liked the look of Frugi.

  10. Just as I was thinking that twitter was a waste of time, Dom proves that it can be useful after all. I'm not convinced enough to buy a phone, but I do have a serious craving for a brownie.

  11. Usually I put my faith in the all important comma so I interpret your sweet potato dilemma as bake a 200 gm potato then ( comma) use the scooped out flesh. I am sure my English teacher( as in English as your first language ,try to master the grammar bits) daughter would agree with me,( comma) who also cooks.

  12. I'd go 200g potato, cooked, then flesh scooped. Yum.

  13. This just shows how handy Twitter can be! :)

And any time you meet me, ask to check my pockets. Every single pair of jeans and every jacket I own has a wad of wee plastic baggies in the pockets. These people are absolute loolees
